Things aren’t always what they seem. How can a weak Human Stop a Monster?
“Mr. Uram…these are the video footages of the monster you requested.”
“Thank you Grenila. That will be all.”
“Of course Mr. Uram.”
Mr. Uram was one of the world’s most underestimated millionaires. He had over 500 million dollars in cold hard cash alone, and an unknown amount of money held in storage and in his credit card collection. He manufactured the machinery and the tools necessary for archeology and geology studies, and considering how much even one major archeology project cost, he made a heck of a lot more money than the archeologists themselves. The reason he was underestimated was that he was…unintimidating.
At an astounding 4 feet 1 inch tall, this guy had the face of a clown, appeared to be immature and spoiled, and the cloths he wore were unprofessional. He spent more time out of his office doing golf and tennis than in his business outfits. This was just his cover-up though. Mr. Uram was a cruel and bitter man.
He spends over 2/3rds of his money on projects that most humans would consider inhumane. He’s personally made extinct over 500 different endangered animals just to find the perfect formula…what that formula is, however, is unknown to anyone but himself. His goons obey him without question. His next targeted animal…was the one and only monster, Godzilla.
Dr. Niko T. was in the middle of a study when Godzilla’s massive eye appeared in the window where he was sitting at. Sighing, he went to see what was the matter. Something was sticking on Godzilla’s head, and it was visibly irritating the giant lizard…and when you have an irritated giant lizard, things don’t go well for whatever comes along his path. Godzilla is a fascinating creature, over 50 feet tall and strong enough to defeat an army all by himself. With black skin harder than almost any other skin found in the world, Godzilla could very well be the world’s ultimate creature.
“Elsie, could you please help me get this metal piece of junk off of Godzilla’s head?” Dr. Niko T asked his pretty companion, a redheaded scientist. Godzilla made his roar/screech sound in agreement. Elsie didn’t have to hurry…the huge lizard came to her…by ripping open the roof of the lab. Dr. Niko slapped himself in the face. Godzilla still has yet to understand the importance of roofs…and the very important concept of something called money.
Now seeing what was stuck on the lizard’s head, Elsie gasped in shock. It wasn’t a piece of junk at all. Calling for Niko, he rushed over and discovered what she saw…and boy it wasn’t good. It was an old L45 unit.
L45 units used to be part of a huge project by the US government in order to stop the original Godzilla. These metal devices could attach onto any surface and dig deep into that surface…and that included skin. L45 units adapted to whatever they attached to, to it could stick onto anything from a moving jet, a volcano…or a human. That was why these units became, or at least should’ve been, unobtainable for anyone. Niko himself saw thousands of these units thrown into a huge fiery furnace and burned to rubble. Supposedly, these units were supposed to be programed to stop anything moving and then send electronic signals to the brain of a living thing if it attached to something alive. Niko had never seen this happen, nor did he believe anything could do such a thing…
Mr. Uram received a high-level emergency call from his top employee, Mr. Alder. Alder was a brilliant genius responsible for a number of methods of how to control, manipulate, and convince anyone or anything to do what he wanted. He also was just as bitter a man as Mr. Uram was. Uram’s short chubby body hustled to the lab Mr. Alder was in. One of the old L45 units was activating…and it was moving…
“Well what are you waiting for Alder? Turn on the blasted machine. I’ve always wanted to see whether or not these old contraptions work as well as you say they do.”
With no extra insentive, Alder got a controller that was specifically designed for a specific L45 machine…and this one controller had not been used in years because the machine had fallen into the ocean years ago. Godzilla had been swimming in the ocean, eating a huge amount of fish, when he crashed into the small machine that was just floating around in the ocean. Mr. Uram thought it was some sort of fish that unit had attached to…boy he was wrong.
Activating the machine, a red light the size of an apple appeared on Godzilla’s head. The lizard froze, his eyes unblinking. Dr. Niko and Elsie had never seen the lizard do that before…and what happened next never happened before either. The lizard’s eyes rolled back in his head and the metal was sparking, making sparks fly all over the giant lizard’s head. The 2 scientists jumped out of the way as some of the sparks fizzled past their heads. Godzilla’s eyes then returned to normal, but they were dull…like he was in a trance. His pupils were so big they almost covered his entire eye, and the L45 unit stopped sparking.
Alder was holding the controller and grinned. The image that appeared on the screen showed what the unit had attached to…and it was obvious what it was. Mr. Uram, however, didn’t see it nor did he care. “What a waste of time Alder! If you don’t mind, I will NOT pay you this week. Come call me when you do find something useful and worth my time. I’m a very busy man, and I don’t have the time to worry about a stupid video game!”
In Uram’s eyes, what he saw was a bunch of lines that made absolutely no sense and a bunch of binary numbers. His small frame wobbled to the lab door and he slammed the door so hard the walls cracked around it. Alder sighed and then chuckled.
“Mr. Uram…what a fool. He is right about one thing though…this will just be like a game…except this game has my rules. Time to cause terror. I think a good place to start…muhahaha…I know just the place.” Speaking into the controller, he told in words exactly what he wanted Godzilla to do…and the machine made the lizard obey.
Sparks once again flew all over the place, but the sparks did nothing more than tickle the lizard’s rough skin. The unit was stuck to Godzilla’s forehead and wasn’t coming off…if Niko didn’t figure out how to get this machine off…Godzilla could do anything…and with his size and power, who knows what damage he could cause?
…
Godzilla had been swimming in the ocean for hours now. He only came up for breath 5 times, his giant nostrils inhaling the air just above the water before going under the water again. Monique wasn’t happy. “Doctor, your pet lizard has finally gone awry.” With her black outfit she normally wore, she looked as serious as ever. Elsie shot her a look, but she knew this French lady was right. Godzilla had gone awry…and it was thanks to that stupid device that the US government should’ve thrown away years ago!
Randy, their hacker, was busy analyzing the frequency of the unit. “Wow Nick (Niko’s nickname)…we got some serious activity going in this thing. Whoever built it sure did know what they were doing…even I can’t get a look to hack into it. However…” The younger man smiled. “No one keeps me out of a machine. I managed to figure out where these signals are coming from, and it looks like our lizard buddy is heading right for it…but there’s a big problem.”
Pointing to his computer, he turned the screen around and showed everyone on board the ship they were using to follow Godzilla as fast as they could. Everyone gasped…Godzilla was heading straight for New York City…and Godzilla was pulling away from the boat. If they didn’t stop him soon, in only 40 minutes Godzilla would reach the city!
“Can’t this stupid boat go any faster?” Niko shouted to no one in particular. He knew Godzilla was a fast swimmer, and there was no way on Earth they could catch Godzilla now…but hopefully they could only be a few minutes behind him. Monique took the ship’s wheel and got everything near the wheel to go as far as it would go in full thrust power. It was a race against time.
Godzilla’s mind was fighting this horrible machine, but constant sound waves coming from the machine were literally driving the lizard’s mind to be insane right now. Every fish swam as far away from the screeching sound waves as possible because it hurt too much, but Godzilla was forced to hear these waves constantly. The more Godzilla tried to think to resist, the more painful and aware he was of the horrible sound. It was too high for human ears to pick up, but it also changed from the insanely high sound into a very very low sound every few seconds. The closest thing that a human would hear would be the highest note on a violin over and over again switching off with the lowest note a tuba can make. Godzilla continued to swim towards New York City, with the boat now a full 2 minutes away…
Alder was laughing to himself…the city that held so many curses in his life, the city that had thrown him to the ground and ruined his life…was going to be thrown into chaos, and if all went well, destroyed into mounds of rubble too. The machine was working perfectly…Godzilla was completely under his control. In just a few minutes, the city that ruined his life would feel the pain of being crushed. His controller saw the brain activity of the giant lizard spike up a few times, only to disappear as Alder turned up the sound. He didn’t care what happened to the lizard’s hearing…it was in his control and that’s all what mattered…
Niko screamed in frustration. The boat was now 3 minutes behind Godzilla, and the city could now be seen! He had personally seen Godzilla’s father destroy countless cities before…he knew full well what a monster the giant lizard could be…this could only end badly. In 3 minutes Godzilla could destroy a large portion of the city! He could only pray something could slow down the big lizard…the boat was going as fast as it could. Niko sighed as he saw Godzilla’s shadow reach the edge of the water and was about to jump out on an unsuspecting city. Meanwhile, Alder was giggling like the madman he was…time to start the fun…speaking into the controller, he ordered Godzilla to jump out of the water and start destroying the buildings nearest to him.
Godzilla was forced to do it…he jumped out of the water, his huge feet crushing the concrete and road pavement below them. People saw the giant reptile and screamed. Who wouldn’t scream if a huge lizard bigger than anything you’ve ever seen suddenly appeared out of the ocean? People ran inside the buildings, seeking shelter. Godzilla’s tail slammed into the nearest building, completely crushing windows and anyone unfortunate enough to be inside where his tail struck. The building barely held…it was hanging on by a series of cords on the other side of the building. If those cords weren’t there…the whole building would’ve come crashing down.
Godzilla’s tail did the same thing to the other building next to him. This building wasn’t so lucky. The shorter building completely collapsed on itself…anyone inside it was either crushed or needed medical attention. Godzilla screeched his roar, sending a clear message to the tiny people below him. Considering his claws on the end of his toes were taller than the humans beneath him, it was no wonder why people screamed at the top of their lungs. Godzilla’s pupils turned tiny as another order issued from the machine, and he started to walk towards 2 specific buildings…the World Trade Towers. (Remember, this show is before 2001…)
Because Godzilla’s sight wasn’t good now that his eyes were changed while receiving countless instructions by Alder, the lizard crashed into a few buildings…but he still kept walking. His large head head-butted the windows and walls of the buildings closest to him, and the shards of glass that flew everywhere didn’t even hurt the tough lizard skin at all. There was something at the next building however that did affect the lizard…
Cassidy Blank was working hard on the windows of a building. She was a deaf woman that had lovely blue eyes and had long Autumn colored hair, a mix of red, orange, and a tiny amount of brown that was her natural hair color. This hair flowed all the way down to the middle of her back, and she was doing this job in order to get enough money to help her parents get the medical bills paid…she was completely unaware that a giant monster had appeared into the city. She was humming a tune that had appeared in her head. Since she had never heard music before, she daydreamed all the time, imagining what sound and music were like…she didn’t look at Godzilla until his giant head was practically about to ram into her building she was working on.
This girl was terrified, but she was so quick witted her body acted before she could fully understand the danger she was in. Her sense of smell was astounding, and her eyesight was also sharp…she could see that the black head had nostrils that were huge, big enough so that if she was lucky, she could jump right inside one of them…she had to wait until his head lowered down.
Godzilla’s eyes were still in their controlled look, and he lowered his head. As soon as his head stopped moving, Cassidy realized she wouldn’t make it. His nostrils were too far downwards…but maybe…she started to pray in her mind, and grabbing everything she could below her and stuffing it in her worker’s box, she managed to close it right as Godzilla’s head made contact with her building. This building had countless windows, and she was incredibly lucky that she had started at the edge of the building…her row of windows was the first thing that Godzilla’s head made contact with.
She couldn’t hear herself shriek as the impact caused her body to topple and fall over the edge of where she hanging from. She had her eyes open the whole time…she saw herself falling headfirst downwards towards the ground below…she was 500 feet above the ground, more than 3 times Godzilla’s height of 160 feet…she had her box in one hand, holding everything she owned and held dear…her scriptures, her family picture, her wallet, a feather duster (her home was incredibly dusty, and with her sharpened sense of smell…), and a bouncy ball that her one and only friend in this world had given to her for her 11th birthday. She was only 17 years old…and she literally saw her life before her eyes as she fell down faster and faster…but something wasn’t right…she saw, from the corner of her eye at the last second, the top of Godzilla’s head. He was going to walk right in her path of the fall! She was going to die quicker than she thought! Closing her eyes, she wrapped the box around her chest and prayed harder than she ever had in her life…and that was quite an accomplishment considering she prayed every day.
