I was wondering about the random comments

I have recently had to issue a 2-week ban regarding this issue to one of our members. It was regrettable but I am very serious that people need to have their real age in their profile if they are under 18.

Please respect this if you're under 18. You are not restricted from access and posting by being under 18, this is simply to protect the members here...

Site Rules, News, and Suggestions / [Rules] Site's Archival Policies
« Last post by Furry-Sneezes on June 21, 2014, 06:27:46 am »
I wanted to take the time to explain to everyone about Sneezefurs' archival policies. This refers to the decisions made on which pieces are included in the archive and under what circumstances they are included.

As a site specifically intended to be about archival, images and videos are added to this site without express permission for the sake of preserving the content. Once something is added to the internet, it becomes a candidate for archival. Images taken from galleries like DA and FA are added to the site with full credit to the artist, but permission is not requested.

To the same extent, content added to the site by members falls into this same category. Once content has been added to this site, it becomes owned by the community. While some content will be rejected during an archival pass, the majority of it will be saved for archival purposes.

To supplement this policy, a change has been made to the archival sections of the forum. Topics that have been moved to the areas of the site where topics cannot be posted lose the ability to be edited or removed by members. This extends to the backlog in the stories area with topics that have not yet been formatted for archival. ('Unarchived')

I recognize that some people want to retain full control over their content, but I want to emphasize that this site is an archival site, and not a gallery for individual members. This site relies on the principle of public domain and preservation to provide you with content. Without it, the video archive would not exist, and most of the art archive would not exist either.

This has always been the policy here, and the only thing that has changed is the restrictions on archived topics. I do apologize if anyone feels offended by this policy, and if it's a matter of being associated with the sneeze fetish then I hope you will understand that by having content in the archive, you are not considered to be a part of the fetish community. Your content is there because we appreciate its existence. :3

If there's a new sneeze fetish community or website out there, suggest a link for me to add to the suggested links section through this topic.

Site Rules, News, and Suggestions / Re: [Announcement] Upcoming User Prune
« Last post by Furry-Sneezes on June 12, 2014, 10:57:17 pm »
[06/12/14] I will be doing another user prune in a month or so. I will make sure to have completed an art and video update before doing a prune, however, to ensure that long time visitors/lurkers that still legitimately intend to be a member of the site have a chance to log into their account again. As a note, I almost never delete accounts belonging to people who have contributed in the past.

It has come to my attention recently that a few people have been unable to re-register after having their account rejected. I have looked around for any sort of option involving this and have found nothing. I strongly encourage anyone signing up to take care when filling out their profile, and if your registration HAS been rejected, please try again in a few days, or with an alternate e-mail (and change your e-mail after succeeding) Once an account has been rejected, you should be able to re-register using the same name, btw. The issue is either an IP-based cooldown or an e-mail based lockout/cooldown.

I have had a reduction in spambots over the past year, but I still feel there is value in ensuring members are at least willing to put in enough effort to share a little about themselves through sign-up as this IS a community-driven site. Thanks for understanding.

There's no 'database' associated with the video archive, so my only options are folders and filename adjustments. For now I'd like to stick to folders. I've also seen the results of user-created tagging and am not a fan of it, additionally it requires an active userbase with tech knowledge and with no offense to the people around here, very few people even rate the artwork in the media gallery so I wouldn't expect user-tags to work very well. XD

i've seen some progress with this rule so i guess some of it is working.

i wouldn't call it a "thing" though, that sounds kinda prudish there, imo. these are real people visiting this site who are either still adjusting with the fetish sexually or curiosity. you can't expect them to be so loud and proud like a pride parade, or openly candid like a furry convention right off the bat. everyone handles this differently and should be respected as such: otherwise, you're driving just as many people away for coming off on the wrong foot.

they will talk when they want to talk. if they don't want to, they don't have to.

the blue forum handles new faces rather nicely and warmly. maybe this site could learn a thing or two. otherwise this is still more of "aw c'mon, don't be a spazz, i beat off to this stuff too! you can trust me! i'm a nice stranger!"
